miEdge (Zywave): What It Is, What It Costs, and Who It Fits

Published · Updated · By Benefit Signals · Markdown version

miEdge is Zywave's lead generation and prospecting platform for insurance, covering personal lines, commercial lines and employee benefits. Zywave publishes counts of 85M households, 4M+ employers, 400M insurance-relevant data points and 40+ data sources -- including Form 5500 filings, DOT records, OSHA data, workers' comp filings and IRS data -- with 10+ years of Form 5500 history on the benefits side. Pricing is not published; the product routes to a vendor contact.

miEdge has been a fixture in insurance prospecting long enough that plenty of agencies simply call it "the 5500 tool." It is now a Zywave product, sold alongside Zywave's quoting, analytics and compliance software. This page covers what it does, what Zywave publishes about it, what it costs (and why that is hard to answer), and where a narrower tool fits better.

What is miEdge?

Zywave positions miEdge as its "Lead Generation & Prospecting Solution" and states that "miEdge is the only prospecting platform built specifically for insurance." It spans three lines of business -- Personal Lines, Commercial Lines and Employee Benefits -- and Zywave publishes the following counts on the product page: "85M households," "4M+ employers," "400M insurance-relevant data points," and "40+ sources," with sources named as including Form 5500 filings, DOT records, OSHA data, workers' comp filings, IRS data and public records. On the benefits side specifically it cites "10+ years of Form 5500 filing history."

It is sold in several configurations: the miEdge App, miEdge Analytics, a miEdge Data Portal, a Lead Insights API, and CRM integrations for Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics. Zywave also publishes a support library for the product, covering topics such as how to pull a Form 5500 filing from within the platform and prospecting best practices.

miEdge cost

Zywave does not publish dollar pricing for miEdge. The product page carries no prices, and a Capterra listing for the product shows a starting price of "Contact vendor" with no free trial. Expect price to vary by line of business, seat count, whether you take the Data Portal or the API, and whether CRM integration is included.

A word of caution on older price figures circulating online: per-state pricing sheets for miEdge have been published by third parties in the past, and we have deliberately not reproduced them here because we cannot verify they are current. If you find a dollar figure for miEdge on a comparison site, check its date before you plan a budget around it. The honest answer today is: not published -- ask for a quote.

miEdge reviews

Unlike some vendors in this category, miEdge carries listings on the major B2B software review sites -- Capterra among them -- so independent user feedback is available to read before you buy. The Capterra listing also shows the starting price as "Contact vendor," which is the clearest confirmation that pricing comes from a quote. Source: capterra.com listing (as published 2026-09-13). Review volume on that listing is small, so weight it accordingly, and read vendor-authored comparisons -- including this one -- with their authorship in mind.

Where miEdge is the better buy. Cross-line breadth is a real advantage and we do not have it. If your agency writes workers' comp, commercial property and benefits, one producer researching all of it in one interface saves genuine hours, and the API and Data Portal options matter if you need the data inside your own systems. Zywave's long Form 5500 history is also a legitimate strength for anyone doing multi-year analysis.

Where Benefit Signals is the better buy. We do one line and one job. A broker working group insurance in one territory does not usually need OSHA records or personal-lines households; they need to know which employer groups are closest to a decision this month. Change signals tell you who -- in three categories: the incumbent broker's position changed, the business is in motion, or the economics sit out of line for a group that size. The Renewal Clock tells you when, from the filed policy year end, to the day. 46,595 groups carry a decision-maker on file, and a separate pool covers 831,896 small employers that file a retirement plan with no filed group-health plan.

The other practical difference is the buying process. A published $60 a month with a seven-day trial is a decision a single producer can make on a Tuesday; a quote-only enterprise platform is a decision an agency makes at budget time. Neither approach is wrong -- they are aimed at different buyers.

How our ranking was graded

We think you should demand this of every vendor in the category. Our model was trained on filings from 2016 through 2022 and graded against a 2023 filing cohort held out from model fitting, counting only groups with a top-compensated broker seat on file and a next-year filing to check against. Likelihoods, not certainties — how the model was tested is published on the home page. "Winnable" is a residual left after excluding co-broker reorders and bulk transfers consistent with book sales or rebrands, because employer intent is not in a filing.

Pricing is $60 a month or $600 a year. The monthly plan includes a seven-day free trial -- card at checkout, first charge day 8, cancel before then and pay nothing. Annual has no trial. Both renew automatically until cancelled. For the parent company, see Zywave. Questions: contact us.
